When we first sent out the link to the playtest dropbox there was an error in the address, which we updated pretty quickly on Kickstarter. However, for some if you clicking through from your original email the link won't be updated. If you've had difficulty downloading the PDF, please use this new link and let us know if you have any further issues!

Happy Friday (or Saturday for you time-travelers!) Backers and Followers!
We've been working hard on the design of the Aethera Campaign Setting in the two months that have passed since the conclusion of the Kickstarter. As January is coming to a close, so is the design phase of the setting development. What this means is that our large team of authors are putting the finishing touches on their assignments for the Aethera Campaign Setting and will be submitting them soon. As the submissions come in, our internal team will begin work on the next phase of the book's design: development.
What is development?Development is a critical stage in the creation of a tabletop RPG title, especially one designed by a team of multiple authors. Each different author's final turnover of work will be reviewed by our internal team. Additions, adjustments, and revisions will be made in order to make all of these different parts integrate with one-another seamlessly and help create a powerful, cohesive narrative and gameplay experience. Development on the Aethera Campaign Setting will last for roughly one month, though as this is not only our first major project as a publisher but also the first written material (and first shot at worldbuilding this setting) we're breaking a lot of new ground and need to be sure all of the concepts work once they're on the page. We may need to revisit some areas more than once, which could potentially extend the development window, but more on that as it comes.
Art of AetheraSomething more tangible for you all is that I've been pulling some double-duty working as art director for the Aethera Campaign Setting, coordinating with our fabulous and exceptionally talented freelance artists to help create a consistent and exceptional visual style for Aethera. We've been actively sharing our updates on the Aethera Facebook Page, but I wanted to share some of my favorite pieces here for those who may not have been following along. You'll find some great pieces of art at the bottom of this update!
Open Playtest and Early-Access Guide
One of the things we're really excited about is the upcoming open playtest of the cantor class. Our two lead designers on cantor, Andrew Fields and David Ross have submitted their final draft and we're going to release it into the wild very soon. There'll be an update on that when it happens so you can get your hands on the cantor class yourself and play with it. Feedback on the cantor from external playtests will help is in development (and later in editing) to ensure you get the best material possible.
In addition, we'll be releasing the Beta build Aethera Early Access Guide in February. This guide was a backer reward and will only be available to backers who earned the early access guide through backing the kickstarter. There will be an update on how to receive your Aethera Early Access Guide when it becomes available. Remember that the material published in this guide represents a Beta version of the game mechanics and there may be changes between the early access material and the final product.
I'll be posting another update in a few days for backers only that includes some information about our current schedule, so you know where we stand on everything.

We know the wait was long, but now that the busy holidays are over we have good news: BackerKit surveys are coming!
We'rel sending out an email with a special link to BackerKit surveys today! It is important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information for fulfilling your rewards.
You do not need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey, just click on the survey link, fill it out, and you’re all good to go! You will be able to answer questions about your rewards preferences, provide shipping information, and pledge for more “add-ons” if you'd like. You do not have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!
If you decide later that you want to edit your survey response, you can go back to your survey and change it any time before we lock down the surveys for processing.

What an amazing week it's been! We have just a little over THREE DAYS left to the Kickstarter and only $13,000 left to go! We've been making tremendous headway these last couple of days and without all of your continued help we won't be able to make the final push!
